The goals of the COPSD program services are to address both psychiatric and substance use disorders and provide intense services in individual sessions that address the client's stabilization and engagement in order to assist the client in benefiting from treatment.
The target population of the COPSD program consists of persons with active psychiatric and substance use disorders who require crisis resolution and/or specialized support in treatment. The target population has (1) active substance misuse which meets the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual IV criteria for substance abuse or substance dependence, and (2) severe mental illness disorders which meets the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual IV criteria for Schizophrenia, Major Depression, Bipolar Disorder, or other severe mental illness.
The average length of stay to receive COPSD services is a six-month period. Services include weekly direct service time with the COPSD specialist in face-to-face individual sessions with the client
