Volunteers Offering Involvement in Communities to Expand Services - VOICES Coalition

Services Include

Schools and communities nationwide are being faced with the never-ending - and growing - threat of alcohol, drug, and tobacco use and abuse in our youth.

VOICES is a community coalition funded by the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS), established for the purpose of assisting communities within the six counties served to develop policies, procedures and activities to prevent youth from using alcohol, drugs and tobacco. The VOICES Coalition serves the following counties: Crosby, Lynn, Dickens, Hale, Hockley, Lubbock, and Terry.

Because each community has different issues that need to be addressed, VOICES is actively seeking volunteers from each community in these counties. Local volunteers are able to identify and understand the issues of their community, as well as being able to offer specific solutions that would work best for their community. As a member, you will have the opportunity to be actively involved in making changes in your community, as well as attending prevention conferences in Lubbock and Austin.

Mission Statement: To empower communities to create positive changes in attitudes, behaviors and policies to prevent and reduce at-risk behavior in youth with a unified focus on alcohol tobacco, and other drugs.

Vision Statement:  Community members uniting to create a safe environment for families to nurture and protect children and youth through education and awareness.

VOICES Community Coalition involves: Schools, Businesses, Media, Community Organizations, State/Govt. Agencies, Health Care Organizations, Parents, Churches and Youth.
